I decide to send her a message, via Instagram. “Hi. I just received your email, asking about our services. We have a couple of men here who would fit your needs, and would love to be your date.”
My computer dings a minute later, letting me know that she has replied. “Awesome. This is a little embarrassing for me, but I find myself in a bind. I am busy, and do not get a chance to meet a lot of people, especially men. My sister is getting married, and my family expects me to bring a date.”
“You have nothing to be embarrassed about. Your situation is very common. People are so busy with their professional lives that they don’t know anyone outside of their work. That is why we are here.
“I hate to lie to them, but I don’t know what else to do.”
“There is no law that states that a date is someone you have known previously. People go on blind dates all the time. We are here to help.”
“Great.”
“We like to set up a meeting before the event, so that we can get to know you better. That way, the date seems more natural. Are you available on Friday evening for dinner?”
“I am.”
We note a local restaurant that has amazing food and tables where we can sit and talk. The restaurant is a nice one.
We’ll meet at six.
She thanks me.
I let her know that I’ll send her a picture of the person she is meeting tomorrow.
Janie looks up at me, and notes that I’m wearing a smirk. “What’s up, Jefe?”
“Well, my best friend just contacted the business looking for a date.”
She raises her eyebrows as if to ask, “so what?”
I laugh. “She doesn’t know that this is my business. We arranged to meet on Friday. I’m pretty sure that she is going to have a heart attack when she finds out that it’s me that she is meeting with.”
“Won’t she recognize the picture you are going to send?”
“I’ve changed quite a bit since she last saw me. I’ve lost some fat and I’ve been working out. I’m not the same Luke.”
“You’re an evil man, Jefe.”
“I know. Isn’t it great?”
It gives me time to regret my entire life leading up to meeting him.

“Girl, you’re not going to believe it! I’ve got a job for you. A very special one!” he says excitedly.
It’s probably another job as an extra, but it can’t hurt to hear him out.
“Really? What’s the job?” I ask.

I make no effort to hide my skepticism, “Hush-hush? That sounds all sorts of sketchy, Sam.”

What could it hurt?
“Alright. Give me the address,” I say, giving in.
Sam cheers through the phone, wishing me all the luck in the world. But at the same time, saying that I won’t be needing it.
