CHAPTER 01
David
It’s pretty lonely at the top. Just the way I like it.
Why, you ask? It’s how the world works. The alpha stays on top, above all of the other lesser creatures, waiting for him to guide them. As CEO, it’s my job to lead the sheep to the promised land.
I watch in the past few hours as my board members try to kiss my ass with all of their proposals and deals, but they all think I can’t see through their bullcrap. I’m one of the most brilliant minds of this generation, I brought up my company, Sionis, to be the leading engineering firm of the 21st decade from scratch.
Not even hordes of ex-girlfriends could have stopped my company’s rise to the top, I wouldn’t let them. Don’t get me wrong, I like a hot broad just like the next red-blooded American guy, I just don’t like eating pizza when it gets stale, you get my drift?
I sit back on my chair on the top floor of my building and think about my next prey, a potential new business alliance that could make Sionis millions of dollars. The company has the potential to work with Talmart, a leading construction and real estate company that builds malls and other commercial buildings all over the United States.
But as I read through the background check report I had my guys run up on a few weeks ago, I almost wanna throw it in the trash as I read.
Mr. Sandovis, CEO of Talmart, is an incredibly family-oriented man and only works with men who are married.
Is this some kind of fetish? Why would an old geezer want to work with only married men? Are they swingers? I swear to God these Boomers are running this world to the ground.
It’s about high time they let new blood take the throne, and it’s about time I take my place on that very throne.
But first, I need to take a step over this little stepping stone to take Sionis on to greater heights than it’s ever seen before. And to do that, I’ll need a girlfriend.
But I’ve never had a serious girlfriend before. Why would I rid womenfolk of the chance of a lifetime to be with me by having sex with only one woman at a time? I don’t think I have the heart to commit such a heinous crime against them.
But Sionis comes first above everything else. If she needs a serious girlfriend, even if just for show, then I’ll be giving her one.
So, don’t fail me now, Google. I type in ‘matchmaking service.’
What? Just because I have two Ph.Ds from CalTech and MIT that gives you the right to think that I know the best place to find a pretend girlfriend? Shame on you. Google is the shit.
And what do you know, the first page results show a promising company, “Billionaire’s club.”
Huh. It seems pretty interesting enough.
But as I click on the link, I find out that the site is a hub for matching young ladies to potential sugar daddies.
“They finally did it,” I comment, “They finally found a way to legalize and digitize prostitution.”
And I can’t take the chance on the off-shoot that my girlfriend might be a gold-digger.”
I decide to go for the next search results, ‘MeetMe.com.’
The website looks decent enough with its traditional layout of meeting different kinds of people of all different ages. This will have to do.
But since I’m running out of time, I call my tech department to find me the cellphone number of their CEO, someone named Lindsey Jameson. Huh, a lady.
They give it to me after five minutes. I call the number, and a sexy voice greets me, “Lindsey Jameson speaking, who is this?”
“Ah, Lindsey. This is David Owens, CEO of Sionis, I was wondering if you could help me.”
But Lindsey laughs at me, “You’re David Owens? Then I’m Beyonce’.”
“Just give me a sec,” I say as I open my laptop. I quickly find Lindsey’s laptop connection based on the report my boys gave me. I hack away into her operating system and turned on my laptop camera. I now have my face streaming at her laptop in 1080p.
“Holy shit!” she reacts.
I wave at the camera, “Let’s do this again. Hi, This is David Owens, CEO of Sionis, and right now, your laptop’s daddy.”
“How did you do that?” she asks.
“Not important, I hear you’re one of the best in the world of online matchmaking? I need your help. I need an attractive wife for maybe around a year or so for business purposes. It’ll be no strings attached, no sex, no kissing, no whatever the girl wants. I just want a pretty and respectable wife. And at the end of the year, we end the fake relationship. The woman will end up getting a million-dollar if we successfully accomplish my secret task.”
I hear squiggling of paper at the other line. It’s cute that Lindsey’s writing it down.
“Sorry for the delay,” she finally speaks, “I just cross-referenced our system, but I’m afraid I don’t know anyone who can help him as of the moment.”
Crap. After all that effort of impressing Lindsey, I thought she’d give me one of her best girls.
“It’s alright, it happens. Goodbye.”
“However,” she continues, “I may be interested in the job if it’s still on the table.”
“Oh, it’s on a table, alright, it can be on a couch, on the TV, whatever just give me a wife.”
“But please do know, I have a child,” she confesses.
A child? Oh, we can use this child to improve my image with that Talmart CEO. He’ll definitely love my new girlfriend and new baby.
“Well, what do you know? I was just about to ask the same thing. That’s even better.”
“So, where can we meet? I ask confidently.
